The benefits of the parents’ involvement in school include better participation and a foundation to the development of their children. It provides a wider prospect for parents and teachers to plan, prepare and execute strategies for better learning outcomes for a child. Considering this great thought, K.R Mangalam World School, organized a parent workshop on 19 August 2023 for the parents of K.G classes which was specially crafted to help them to become more empowered.

Parents were warmly welcomed and were briefed about the content of the workshop. It was based on the teaching methodologies of English, Hindi and Math. The introduction of short and long vowel sound words along with magic ’e’ was demonstrated in English which comprised of an oral explanation and activities like spin the wheel game. Emphasis was laid on the reading of words with the help of the jolly phonic sounds of the letters. In Hindi, parents witnessed that how vyanjans are introduced in their wards’ classrooms using various activities and stories. In Math, finding the missing number activity was truly enjoyed by the parents.

Various fun-filled activities were exhibited that can be implemented to make the learning more interesting and effective for the children using picture cards, concrete objects and rhymes and riddles. Parents took an active part in the interaction and were encouraged to answer the questions. They were also given an opportunity to resolve their queries.. Valuable comments were shared by them at the end of the workshop which proved to be a great source of encouragement for the teachers.

With the skills and strategies learnt during the workshop, parents will be able to help their child grow in self-esteem and develop good social skills and an interest in reading and writing. Parents thanked the KRM team for arranging such an educative and interactive workshop.
