The second day was a very curious yet familiar experience for the participants. As they grew familiar with the conduct of the proceedings of the model United Nations conferences, the second day covered a very essential aspect that is;
THE DOCUMENTATION
The session started with a rhetorical question that was what is documentation? And why do you think it is important? Almost all the participants were willing to answer and the amphitheatre was filled with enthusiasm
Position papers and working papers were explained and a lot of questions were raised regarding that.
The most important document of all, the DRAFT RESOLUTION was explained to the participants in detail, it also opened the door for a better understanding of the model united conferences.
Important Miscellaneous Tips were also provided to the participants where in the trainers explained the importance of credibility and reliability of websites or sources used for research;
This was then followed by a question & answer round wherein the participants asked questions in order to clear all their doubts, numerous doubts were answered and it lead to the session becoming more interactive
This was followed by a debate session
with the topic being “India’s Population: a boon or a curse” the entire amphitheatre was divided into two halves; the participants in favour of the motion & the participants against the motion.
Almost all the participants got a chance to speak and their speeches were filled with enthusiasm and facts.
The session ended with a Feedback Session wherein the Trainers gave the participants feedback on the basis of their speeches and opened the door for improvement.
Day 3
With the 2 days of the training session over and having covered all the aspects of the working of the Modern United Nations, the commencement of the 1-day intra-MUN session began. The Amphitheatre was full of energy and enthusiasm. The countries were allotted a day prior, The session began with the distribution of placards of individual nations to the students who were allotted the countries. The committee of choice was the United Nations General Assembly and the agenda was “Increasing crime leading to violence amongst citizens”. The committee began with the General Speakers list where were recognized a few delegates at a time. Session 1 was not anything different for the average bystander but for many and definitely for some delegates it was exciting as delegates spoke their mindful of the agenda while representing their own country. Being first-timers, they required constant guidance. A few students even raised points of correction against inaccurate or false speeches which was a surprise to the executive board. But other than that, their efforts to raise questions and comments were impressive. After breaking for lunch paperwork had to be rushed through. Then session 2 finally began. Many delegates failed to raise motions but finally, a delegate raised one in format and we finally entered a moderated caucus. Sub agenda is “increasing violence due to inequalities”. This was an interesting part of the whole session Delegates spoke out well in terms of national policies. Their knowledge of the subject was surprisingly good. In the end, it was their collective effort that really made our day a whole lot better.
Then the Mod Caucus ended and along with a conclusion of the working paper and other related documentation. The Working papers from a few delegates were very impressive. The session finally concluded, and the delegate of Brazil (Raghav Arora) grabbed the best Del position. Following this, our honorable Principal ma’am escorted by MUN Teacher in – charge Ms. Sonal Skinner, and Academic Co-Ordinators, Preeti Ma’am and Himani Ma’am came onto the stage and congratulated students on the success of the Intra MUN and Training Session 2022. Certificates were awarded to the students. Thereafter the event was declared closed by Principal Ma’am.
