DATE : 7/10/22
Report
A workshop was conducted by Anika Mahajan and Mishti Nagrath (members of the counseling club) on the topic, “BUILDING A SAFE SPACE”.
In the workshop, the students talked about what a safe space is and how to create it (by being open, true and vulnerable with ourselves as well as with people you want to be a part of your safe space) . They also talked about emotions and an activity was conducted on how to identify emotions. Difficulties in creating a safe space were covered which included academic stress, social media, anxiety, body image issues, self-doubt and peer pressure.
At last, methods and techniques were shared to help the participants to, create a safe space for themselves and to maintain a healthy balance in their lives. These included taking time out for ourselves, the ideology of targeting the person and not the behavior, positive affirmations, journaling, breathing techniques and box technique.
The workshop was very interesting and the students participated with great enthusiasm and created a lively atmosphere in the amphitheater.
